R~m~val of natural vegetation in the over- <br />lay districts shall be subject to the following pro- <br />visions. <br /> <br />a) Selective removal of natural vegetation is <br />allowed, provided that sufficient vegetative cover <br />remains to screen cars, dwellings and other <br />structures when viewed fr~ the water. <br /> <br />b) Clear cutting of natural vegetation is pro- <br />hibi ted. <br /> <br />c) Natural vegetation shall be restored insofar <br />as feasible after any construction project is com- <br />pleted to retard surface runoff and soil erosion. <br /> <br />d) The provisions of this section shall not apply <br />to permitted uses which normally require the re- <br />moval of natural vegetation. <br /> <br />Develoim~nt shall be conducted so that the maximum num- <br />ber of trees are preserved by the locating of <br />structures in existing cleared areas and natural <br />clearing and the utilization of other site design <br />techniques. <br /> <br />Grading, contouring and paving shall be performed to min- <br />imize any detrimental affect on root zone aeration and <br />stability of existing trees. Existing trees shall be <br />provided with a watering area equal to at least one- <br />half the crown cover. <br /> <br />When trees are removed, the permittee will restore the <br />density of trees, utilizing nursery stocks of a mini- <br />mum of 1-3/4" diameter measured one foot above the <br />ground, using species generally accepted as suitable <br />for the purpose to that which existed before the de- <br />velo~nent provided that in no case need the density <br />exceed 10 trees per acre. <br /> <br />Develo~ent shall not reduce the existing crown cover <br />greater than 50% and shall be conducted in such a man- <br />ncr as to preserve the under story and litter. <br /> <br />Trees used in reforestation or landscaping must be com- <br />patible with the local landscape and climatic condi- <br /> Ordinance ~85-2 <br /> <br />- 17 - <br /> <br /> <br />
