Stat. ~ 115A.921. That section <br />provides in part that: <br /> <br /> The revenue from the fees shall go to the <br />city or town general fund for purposes of <br />mitigating and compensating for the local risks, <br />costs, and other adverse effects of facilities. <br /> <br /> A privately owned and operated landfill in the city has caused <br />certain pollution problems including contamination of water supplies <br />within the city. You indicate that among the contemplated uses for <br />the funds are: <br /> <br />1. Replacement of contaminated water supplies; <br /> <br />Reimbursement of attorney's fees incurred in certain <br />citizens' court actions related to damages caused by the <br />landfill; <br /> <br />Reimbursement of medical bills incurred by citizens as a <br />result of landfill contamination; <br /> <br />Compensation of citizens for other damages caused by the <br />landfill; <br /> <br />Be <br /> <br />Payment of expenses of a committee established to deal <br />with landfill problems and the expenditure of the funds in <br />question; and <br /> <br />Development and implementation of a community education <br />and awareness program for abatement'and prevention of <br />landfill problems. <br /> <br />AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER -..-'2~.
