She referred to a profile sales activity
list put out annually by the Greater Minneapolis Area Board of Realtors. She
stated that in District 570 (Ramsey, Andover, Burns and St. Francis), there are
presently 302 houses on the market, and of that, 111 are in the City of Ramsey.
That represents 37% of the district. Only 63 of these homes have sold. She
went on to say that there is a big differenoe in the average selling price of
hemes in Ramsey as compared to the district as a whole. In Ramsey the average
selling price is $69,650 and in District 570 the average is $87,900. She
stated that hc~es are not selling for what the owners want. She used herself
as an example. She stated that she recently sold her house at a $7,000 loss
just to get rid of it and it was on the market for over a year. Ms. Ross
expressed ooncern that the major reason people in Ramsey have trouble selling
their h~es is because of the landfill. It's the same situation in Andover.
You couldn't give a home away there.

Chairman LeLeux asked Ms. Ross what she feels the City of Ramsey should do.

Ms. Ross stated that she honestly didn't know what could be done other than to
wait for people to forget or put out an ad campaign to promote Ramsey, which of
course would cost a lot of money.

Chairman LeLeux asked why realtors don't try to sell Ramsey.

Ms. Ross stated that they've tried, but it's gotten to the point that agents
won't even take Ramsey listings anymore.

L~ndfil] Ad Hoc Committee/4-Zg-85 ~--~
~,:,,i!~ Page 1 of 6
