LANDFILL AD BOC GDMM/TTEE <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA GOUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />The Ramsey Landfill Ad Boc Co~mittee oo~ducted a regular meeting on Monday, <br />June 3, 1985 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Joe LeLeux, Chairman <br />Mr. A1 P~arson <br />Mr. Douglas Fountain <br />Mr. Vern Wentura <br />Mr. Steve DeLuca <br />Mr. Roger McCulley <br />Mr. Terry Miller (Ex-officio, Non-voting). <br /> <br />Members Absent: Ms. Erika Sitz <br /> <br /> I <br /> i <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />CALL <br /> <br />Chairman LeLeux called the regular Landfill Ad Hoc Co, tree meeting to order <br />at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mr. Bruce Baoon - Ramsey Fire Warden and Tree Inspector - Stated that in his <br />job as fire warden he has beo~me aware that parties are burning green treated <br />wood and there are some definite health hazards associated with the breathing <br />of that sawdust and the fact that many people burn in their garden area. Mr. <br />Baoon stated that as part of his effort to educate the people he attended a <br />meeting of the MPCA Household Bazardouse Waste Task Force Committee on June 14. <br />This Task Force has received a grant to oonduct a series of pilot oollection <br />projects and to produce educational materials on household hazardous waste. <br />Mr. Bacon stated that the Task Force is open to input and this Landfill <br />~o~ittee might be interested in attending the meetings of this Task Force in <br />order to gain important knowledge regarding the disposal of household hazardous <br />waste material. Mr. Bacon stressed the importance of proper hazardous waste <br />material versus depositing those wastes in a landfill. One of the first <br />indicators he had that something was wrong at the landfill was a series of <br />calls regarding the death of Pine trees on the western border of the landfill. <br />Mr. Bacon stated that as it turned out, methane was sited as the cause of tree <br />death. Mr. Bacon stated that other life species serve as indicators of the <br />viability of the envirom~ent people are sharing with those other species. <br /> <br />Chairman LeLeux stated that the Landfill C~ttee is concerned with hazardous <br />household waste but limited to the landfill issue.
