TO: Mayor and
Councilmembers

FROM: City Administrator
RE: Staff report for June 1985

l) Finance:

a) Chief Accountant position - We received 17 applications for this position.
Council Personnel Committee set dates for interviews
I
will
be
contacting
the
to
of qualified candidates. The ad was placed in Sunday editions (June 9th and June
16th) of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune and the St, Paul Dispatch and Pioneer
Press. The ad closed June 19th.

b) Revenue and expenditure history for the years 1975 to 1984 I-have enclosed
this report with my staff report. This shows a historical review of Ramsey in
regards to revenue and expenditure. There should be several other parts to it
(population and assessed valuation) to make it a complete document. However,
it shows Ramsey has developed. The interesting part it charts is revenue and
increases and what these increases It would also be
expenditure
were.
interesting
if we had the other above mentioned parts included in this document. Further,
it would really be interesting to see how this all would have affected the average
Ramsey residential dwelling taxes.

We now have the tools to do this and in the future we can do very accurate
projection and tie to productivity.

I do intent to have Jeanne go over this with you at the meeting. It will be her
last time before the Ramsey City Council.

2) Legislation - There is nothing to report on at this time regarding legislation.
I have asked the Metro Association of Cities if they would conduct a critique
on the 1985 Legislative Session as soon as this special session closes and they
are very interested in putting on an informative meeting.

3) Generah

a) Lutheran Brotherhood purchased all the materials for the softball base
boxes at a cost of $351.00 for Central Park. Further, Merle informed me that
volunteer people worked from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. setting bleachers purchased
by the City and trimming the trees in Central Park. I think we probably should
get a letter of thank you out to them.

b) Mr. Jim Barton of the Metro Council has indicated to me that they will
be writing Ramsey up in their Metro newsletter in regards to the fine job Ramsey
has done in its long term financial plan budget and operational budget.

LGS:
