As I stated at the Council meeting on July 23, 1985, I met with State Mediation and Roland Miles of the police union. I have maintained the council's last wage offer which was a one year contract, 4.0% wage increase and a $10.00 per month increase in health insurance. However, the police have refused that offer. The State Mediator has been able to come up with a two year contract which police would accept for 1985 consisting of a 4.5% salary increase and $10.00 per month increase in health insurance and for 1986 consisting of a 4.5% salary increase and $10.00 per month increase in health insurance.
