I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA GOUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ra~sey City Council oonducted a special meeting on Tuesday, <br />1985 at the Ramsey Municipal Oenter, 15153 N~then Blvd. N.W., <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Hei~an <br />Oouncilm~ber A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilme~ber Arnie (Dx <br />Com%cilme~ber Jean Schlueter <br />Councilme~ber Gary Reimann (Arrived 5:37 p.m.) <br /> <br />Also Present: City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br /> <br />September 3, <br />Ramsey, <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman called the special (buncil meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. and led <br />in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Discussion Of Lutheran Brotherhood Grant Offer Of $13.000: <br /> <br />Oouncilmember (Dx referred to an article in the August 30, 1985 Anoka Union <br />which indicates that Ramsey c~_nnot match the Lutheran Brotherhood's grant offer <br />and Ramsey will lose those dollars. Oouncilm~mber Oox stated that there should <br />be a way to determine how much money was generated by the one softball <br />tournament that was held and the boat raffle; there is an October deadlir~ and <br />this Council should discuss what can be done to obtain that grant offer. <br /> <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that the deadline is November 15. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that he talked with Mr. Harlen Bogsven, Senior Vice <br />President of Lutheran Brotherhood and found out that the funds have to be <br />generated by the public; had the original plan for the boat raffle lxoccc~]ed <br />with the City funding the purchase of the boat, the City's involvement may have <br />nullified the procccds fr~m the boat raffle being used as matching funds. <br /> <br />Mr. Dennis Donovan, Park Board Chairman, was lxesent and gave a brief history <br />of how the Lutheran Brotherhood's grant offer came to the City's attention and <br />the appointing of a fund raising cc~mittee to coordinate the effort. <br /> <br />Council~ber Schlueter referred to the $13,000 figures and suggested it be <br />researched whether or not the City can set a more realistic goal of a lesser <br />amount and will Lutheran Brotherhood match it. <br /> <br />Mayor ~eitman stated that in his conversation with Mr. Hogsven he also found <br />out that the grant offer must be applied for, Lutheran Brotherhood must apprcNe <br />the fund raising project and Lutheran Brotherhood should be named as co-sponsor <br /> September ~, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
