Cke~issiorer Stauffer stated that Mr. Otto

adequately explained his reasons for utilizing a different formula in
m estimating forecast u~age. Mr. Otto's forecast fig~es give the citizers an
honest opinion of what the ultimate sage o~uld be; on the other hand, Mr.
Otto used cx>n~rvative figures in fore, casting ec~)rw~ic benefits; thes~ two

forests offset each other in te~s of informing the citizens as to eoor~ic
m berg_fits and use. age. With respect to ooncerns, namely noise, the
envirorm~ental
Metro Oo~cil suggests including doc~entation supporting the Plan's finding

that ~ise l~vels will be within State and Federal guidelines; will the
m e~viror~tal impact stat~emt include such cloc~tation?

Rt. Otto stated that technically the envirorm~.ntal impact stat~m~_nt does not
minclude noi~ level studies; such a study is ex~ensive and it would be
difficult to obtain any agency to Emrticipate in the f~l~ding of a noise study
becau~ it is not expected that an airport of this size will p~oduoe noise
ml~vels outside the guidelir~s.

m
m

O~tssior~r Stauffer referred to Metro Op~cil' s oonoern regarding Gateway' s
expandability and inquired if anybody really would want an airport that had the
capability to expand.
Sept~ber 3, 1985

~ge $ of 7
