expanded an additional 2 pages, is published more often, and provides pertinent information to the <br />business community. <br /> <br />The EDA directed staff to complete a direct mailing to selected businesses and CEO's. The <br />marketing piece was successful in the sense that staff received several inquires based on the mailing, <br />including interest l?om Carlson Companies. <br /> <br />The Business Network meeting was a huge success this year! The meeting generated more attendees <br />than any of the past three events. The EDA was part of the successful topic selection and provided <br />constructive feedback to staff that will further enhance the next event. <br /> <br />Miscellaneous <br /> <br />Identity is crucial to a City in the Metropolitan Area. The EDA has been involvedin a project that <br />would produce monument signs at various entry points to the City and its industrial parks. These <br />signs not only serve as quality finishing touches to well planned industrial parks, they also help <br />market the City as well. The process will be long and arduous but the end result will be quality <br />signage that serves the two above mentioned purposes. A detailed case will be submitted at the <br />September meeting in which sign types will be decided and staff will then try to obtain costs for the <br />specific sign types. It is hoped that financial participation will be utilized by the EDA as well as <br />appropriate TIF Districts to assist in this matter. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />As previously stated the purpose of this case is to review past EDA accomplishments and to discuss <br />what projects the EDA would like to initiate, be involved in, and accomplish for the year 2005..Part <br />of the discussion will include input from the City Council to obtain their view on what they as a <br />Council feel the EDA should be working on and accomplishing. <br /> <br />EDA Action: <br /> <br />Discuss past projects and set forth a framework for the year 2005. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />Jinq Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />EDA: 08/09/04 <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />
