our neighbors do not even know we have a pot-bellied pig, and up to this date, we have not received
any complaints. We are on a two acre wooded lot, and the pot-bellied pig house and exercise area I
cannot be seen from the road or our neighbors' houses. Our potbelly pig is NEVER free ranging around is
the yard. Peter is either in her fenced in exercise area or in the house.The floor of the pot-bellied pig l
house has a layer of treated plywood plus,two more layers of insulated squares.The the rest of the
house is insulated with a plastic wrap and pink insulation.The interior is constructed from%"green-
treated plywood, while the exterior is constructed from 5/8"T1-11 exterior cedar siding. We also
installed a large Petsafe® double-insulated pet door for our pot-bellied pig. We turned the upper level
into a hayloft to store extra hay, and an access has been made available for our two outdoor cats as
well.The color scheme of the pot-bellied pig house is an exact match to our house color scheme. '
i
r
She (Peter) lives in our home from time to time and also lives in the exercise area where her house that
is described above is located. Peter is never free-roaming as stated above, and he is always harnessed
when we are taking him in and out.
t;
While we did research on pot-bellied pigs before buying one, multiple sources, including
kello
gggarden.com, confirmed that pot-bellied pig excrement made for great fertilizer. This fit our
lifestyle perfect as we have grass between our house and the exercise area, multiple flower boxes,
veggie plants, and hundreds of trees in the wooded part of our lot.Since we have all of these different
growing outlets, we definitely make good use of Peter's excrement.We scoop the excrement out every
two days, and after we have composted it correctly, we use it on whatever plants we have growing at
the time. Any extra compost gets evenly spread throughout our lot to promote tree and grass growth.
The simple composting process includes mixing in wood chips and allowing it to settle in the sun
eliminates any odor that may be present in Peter's excrement.
t;
I
h
I_
i
f?
f""
