We have lived here in Northfork since 1992 (over 24 years) and we take full responsibility for
following the Governing Documents that we were given when we purchased our lot. For over 30
years, our Homeowners Association has NEVER had a Governing Document called
"Association Rules and Regulations"until the Board posted one on November 8, 2016, claiming
they amended this non-existent document in 2012 with NO Board minutes to document this
meeting they had in 2012.
For over 30 years, our Homeowners Association has only followed the City of Ramsey's
Ordinances and Guidelines regarding pets we can have. We have never had additional
restrictions imposed by the Board as to the pets we can have. We did not expect when we
purchased our Lot in 1992, that 24 years later, the Board would begin to impose restrictions as to
what type of pets we could or could not have.
TO CONCLUDE:
During our canvassing of our neighborhood, we had the pleasure of meeting many of you for the
first time, and it was great to see neighbors we haven't seen in a while. We sincerely thank, you
for taking the time to read our response to Mark Berglund's letter dated November 23`d 2016.
We are seriously puzzled by the fact that some Northfork families having a few chickens (who
had followed their Governing Documents that were in place at the time they chose to get
chickens) could cause such an uproar in our community. As I mentioned above, we have lived in
Northfork for 24 years and in the early years, we were very involved in the happenings of our
neighborhood. We happily volunteered many hours serving our community and it was fun to be
so active. Then, we got busy raising our family and we were not as involved. We were simply
living our lives peacefully enjoying our family! When we chose to get chickens, we did our
homework to make sure we could have chickens. We checked with the City of Ramsey's
Ordinances and our HOA's Governing Documents that were in place at the time. There was
11-140THIN'G saying we could not have chickens.
Our intent when we chose to get chickens for our family was for our children to learn to enjoy
and care for animals. Our intent was NEVER to cause issues in our neighborhood. We simply
want to keep our chickens so we have fresh organic eggs and awesome pets to care for and
enjoy. It's that simple for us.
The primary purpose of this letter is to simply correct the inaccuracies found in Mark Berglund's
letter. We apologize for any inconvenience or annoyance we have caused any NFHOA member.
This was not our intent. We never imagined this situation would become so dramatic, but the fact
that it did, might be a clue that change should occur in our neighborhood and how it is being run.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us or email us.
We again, thank you very much for your time and will do our best to keep you updated regarding
some of the current events that will provide a positive impact for the members in our community.
Sincerely,
Tom & Edie Harer Phone: 612-309-8374 Email: tomedieharer@comcast.net
6l Page
