F
C
IIl. City of Ramsey Image/Property Value Impact
We bought in the City of Ramsey as the City Ordinance was such that it did not allow for any farm type animals. This was
something we did not want to live near, there are other places for this not inside the city. We do not want the city to allow
this. I was rather disappointed when the City of Ramsey in 2012 decided to change the ordinance to allow farm animals on
certain residential property. One of the reasons we decided to move here was because the progressiveness of the City of
Ramsey and the direction it was heading. I felt different after this change transpired. You as a council need to decide what
type of image you are portraying and what type of businesses and residents you want to attract. Corporations and large
retailers look into these matters prior to deciding where to position their business. If you want to attract a large clothing
chain like Macys for example they are going to look into the cities ordinances ect..far before malting any decisions. Based
upon this city ordinance they might decide that is not the business they want to attract from the city and that is not the
image they want for their own business and move on. Conversely you've just lost your marketing, positioning and revenue
from that business. The city appears to have a lot of undeveloped commercial real estate and in my opinion need to loop
into matters such as this when marketing this cities business. In addition potential residents and developers are also ='
going to loop into this matter as well before deciding to purchase or build the same as we did. Allowing farm type animals
in this manner has impacts to property values in Ramsey as people might not decide to build or buy with the way this is
stated. Conversely lowering the property values in the area.
In conclusion my request is this: I hereby request the city deny the request for a Non-Traditional Domesticated Animal License
for the property located at 15830 Andrie Street NW Ramsey,MN 55303 Lot 4,Block 4 Northfork Links Addition,Anoka County,
Minnesota. I also hereby requesting the City Council request this resident removal of their chickens as well. I do not believe
the manner in which they dispose of the excrement/fecal matter should not allowed or tolerated and as such should not be
allowed to have these types of animals on their property. As stated in their letter the illegal pig lives with the chickens and the
chicken fecal matter is part of what they spread throughout their property. This is part of City Ordinance Sec. 30-3. -Property
conditions constituting a public nuisance. (4)Accumulations of manure, refuse or other debris, except that any manure
maintained in conformance with chapter 10 shall not be declared a public nuisance. (19)Wastewater cast or permitted to flow,
upon streets or otherpublic property.
I am also asking the City Council to review this Ordinance. Based upon how the ordinance reads 10-11 would hope that this is
not how the City of Ramsey wants to be portrayed as.
Thank you for letting us provide the necessary feedback for you to make an informed decision on this matter.
Y g P '
Cordially,
A Very Concerned Neighbor to this resident/ North Fork& Ramsey Resident
E
E
I.
E
1
I.
I%
r
r
is
Page 2
c
