Anoka
City Hall
15153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, NN 55303

Dear Mayor Cox:

At the November-9th meeting, Mr. Sha expressed ~he_
City of Ramsey's concerns overpossible:water qualitY-
influence resulting-from the_~nok~Mu~icipal. S~nitary_
Landfill, SW 94. The current monitoring system is
comprised of five monitoring wells~ and two lysimeters.
Samples are collected from these quarterly, and the
results sent to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
and Anoka County. The data is then computerized and
compared to past data from the same site, as well as
background weI1 data. Based.uponithese analyses,, con-
cluSions are-drawn regarding the ieff.ec~ of the landfill
on. ground water in:the area.*

In the Solid.Waste Division staff's professio'nal, judgementCt.
the Anoka Municipal Sanitary Landfill h~s..not..signif.icantly
influenced the water quality in the area. Furthermore,;the
current monitoring system appears adequater providing data
among wells is compared to each 'other, as well as to back-
ground data. Therefore, water monitoring will continue as
at present until such time as the results indicate that
changes in the current monitoring system are justified.

Very truly yours,
-- .,,. .
k~¥,~.--~ .J.
