These.requirements are being developed in <br />cooperation with other state agencies; the accounting profession <br />and city finance officers. It is expected that this handbook will <br />be available to individual cities prior to January 1, 1979. <br /> <br />The third activity is in the area of training programs and is <br />being coordinated by the State Planning Agency. A Task Force <br />has been formed and is currently in the process of developing ~ <br />training and educational' materials which will be presented at <br />regional workshops. These sessions are tentatively scheduled <br />for December 1978 and January 1979. All city clerks and finance <br />officers will have an opportunity to attend. Preliminary orien- <br />tation sessions will be conducted by a representative of the <br />State Planning Agency in conjunction with the League of Minnesota <br />Cities regional meetings this.Fall. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your information is a copy of Minnesota Statutes <br />1978, Chapter 787, a narrative description of the new law and a <br />bibliography of readings on governmental accounting and financial <br />reporting. As further information is developed on reporting <br />formats and requirements you will be notified.
