TO: City Administrator

FROM: Building Official

RE: Monthly Report

DATE: July 19, 1978

With only 19 housing starts for the month, it would appear that housing
may be slowing down. However, in referring back to 1977, July was slow
for housing starts then too.

To date permit valuations are $7,349,500. This is apparently well ahead
of 1977 with a total valuation of approximately $10.5 million~ The
medical clinic and pharmacy, bowling alley and addition to Mate, Punch
and Die, if developed, will generate additional valuation'in excess of
$1 million.

Although none of the above thmee mentioned commercial or industrial
buildings have yet been authorized to proceed with construction~ they
have proven to be very time consuming. Each has or will be covered by
separate reports.

Some of the zoning complaints included d?gs. and horses on 178th Avenue
N.W. and the storage of barrels on property adjoining Nowthen'Blvd.
Letters were sent to the individuals concerns.

Permits issued, mileage and inspections are as follows:

Permits issued Permit Fee
A. Houses 19 $3,215.00
B. Garages 11 306.00
C. Misc. 4 64.00
D. Sewer 21 315.00
E. Plun~bing 20 458.00

Valuation Surcharge
$848,000.00 $424.00
45,000.00 22.50
10,000.00 5.50

Totals 75 $4,358.00 $903,000.00 $452.00

Mileage and inspections:

Inspections 125
Mileage 904

I would note that to stay abreast of the in-house plan reviews and.re-
ports it has been necessary to rely quite heavily on'Lester for inspections.
Hopefully~ this can be corrected shortly so he can proceed with his
assessing work on schedule.

CRB: sb
