Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> RESOLUTION #04-08-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONTINUATION OF THE FRANCHISE FEE <br />PER SECTION 5 OF THE FRANCHISE FEE ORDINANCE ADOPTED OCTOBER 28, <br />2003. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at its regular meeting on October 28, 2004, City Council authorized <br />Ordinance #03-44 and 03-44 implementing a franchise fee on Connexus Energy and Centerpoint <br />Energy for year 2004 only; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5 of the adopted ordinance stated that a quarterly review of the <br />ordinance will be held to determine whether continuation of the franchise fee was deemed <br />necessary; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for the period ending May 30, 2004, $267,709, was collected in franchise <br />fee revenue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, based on first and second quarter revenue collections, it is deemed <br />necessary that revenue collections continue; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a quarterly review will be held until it is determined that franchise fee <br />revenues are not needed and/or year end 2004 is reached. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the continuation of the franchise fee <br /> until its next quarterly review which will be for the period ending September 30, 2004. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember, and <br />upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 10th day of August, 2004. <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
