C. Hoium and Associates, Inc. with respect to Soils Chapter {170.04) of
the City Code and offer the following comments:

The site of the soil borings consists mainly of Hubbard coarse sand with the
west edge of the site consisting of Isan sandy loam. Hubbard coarse sand is
classified as a Class I land with iapidly permeable soils.

The soils report did not reference the soil boring elevations to tJ~e United
States Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.) datum nor did the report provide any
topography over the site. However, based on the relation between the elevations
of t~]e soil borings, the water table and the U.S.G.S. topographic map, it
appears that approximately 40 percent of the site is more than six feet above
the water table. Chapter 170.041 of the City Code requires that 25 percent
of all parcels in the transitional area be available for t~be construction of an
adequately sized soil absorption system and the reconstruction or duplication of
the soil absorption system. Requirements of Class I soils are that the water
table remains six feet below the surface through t~]e year and that the slopes
do not exceed 12% in moderately permeable soils and 18% in rapidly permeable
soils.

3o

The percolation tests indic, ate percolati~on rates of approximately two minutes
per inch to less than 1/2 anc~ per mznute. Cha~pter 150.01 requires that
rapidly permeable soils (faster than 1/2 '~"~er mi.~) have at least six
inches of sandy loam with a percolation rate between five and fifteen minutes
per inch be placed betwaen the filter material and the existing soil.

keith caswell jr. ;; darrell schneider ,', richard sha
