City of Ramsey

15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Anoka, Minnesota 55303 · (612) 427-1410

POLICE DEPARTMENT

MONTHLY POLICE REPORT

Month/Year February, 1979

INITiAL C01.,'?L~uYNT REPORTS

7 LP~D~W ~ T S:
T_RA~?IC

;',.',ON-TRAFFIC

PATROL ~]OURS

P,F_,S~(VE HOURS

OV ~T ~.'~ (Hold-over/Early-in)

COURT

Shift ~l~ Cover (Holiday)

COi..¢.',~q,~S:

152

9

752 man-hours

15.5

8

As spring progresses we will be inunndated with calls concerning dogs. Not only is

it coming to the time of year when dogs like ~o w~nder¢ alone and in groups¢ but also
their winter depradations and droppings begin to show up. In ~dition¢ as our populati¢,n
increases so does density and therefore loose and stray dogs increase. We have received
numerous calls to which a squad has responded as well as phone calls taken in our office
and by the girls at the administration desks. I feel the council should explore some
avenues of appmoach toward expanding the city's dog catching abilities. As it now
stands Blaine*Midway only responds if a citizen or police officer has an animal "in
custody". They do not come out to catch reported strays and there is no active patrol
time spent. I am not aware of cost figures for these services but I do believe the
council should consider them

Mike Auspos
