Regular O~cil Meeting <br />April 23,"1979 - Page4 <br /> <br />Ground water pollution - several meetings have been held on this. Some of the <br />wells around the landfill were not put in deep enough but this is being changed, <br />metal content is constantly being checked. <br /> <br />Read PCA Report - it states, January - no violations; April 11, 1979, considerable <br />litter problem due to recent winds; daily cover being done on most recent slopes; <br />well monitoring being done. <br /> <br />Contract renewal comes up in 1981'. <br /> <br />Comprehensive Health Department brQught~out Slides of violations and what they <br />have made them do about correcting them. <br /> <br />He requested persons from that area agree to meet with the Heal th Department <br />and the landfill so it can be improved. He said he would much rather see it <br />as a park than what it is now. He said they could appoint two or three people <br />to represent them and the City would hold a special meeting for this purpose. <br />The City wants to work with them, not against them. He expressed his appreciation <br />with the people coming to voice their complaints. <br /> <br />Mr. Van Wagner asked why the City is going to renew the contract in 1981 if <br />they are against the landfill. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox replied that there is a $300,000 commitment to go ahead and <br />develop the park when it is completed, the height will be discussed when the <br />new contract is negotiated. If there Were no slope for water runoff there would <br />be a very serious problem~ The'landfill cou)~dn't be left the way it is or there <br />would be contamination'for sure. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec scheduled a meeting for'April 30, I979 at 7:30 P.M., for all citizens <br />to attend to meet with the'resPonsible .agencies to discuss the problems they are <br />experiencing. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked for any other citizen input. <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />APPROVAL'OF~COUNCIL~MINUTES <br /> <br />BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT~MEETING~DATED~APRIE~9~1979~ <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Reimann seconded by.Councilman Sorteberg to approve the <br />Board of Adjustment minutes as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Reimann and Sorteberg. <br />Voting no: None.
