Metropolitan Transit Commission 801 American Center Building St. Paul, Minnesota 55101 612/221-0939 May 16, 1979 Mr Lloyd Schnelle City Administrator, Ramsey 14100 St Francis Blvd NW Anoka, M~ 55303 Dear Mr Schnelle For the past one and one half years I have served on the Metropolitan Transit Commission representing western Anoka County and northwestern Hennepin County. The Metropolitan Council has now appointed me to a full four year term. I look forward to working with you, the Metro- politan Council, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and the MTC to make public transit more available and cost efficient. The next few years will be challenging for the MTC. The increased cost of fuel will cause more people to ride public transit, and more and better service will be demanded. To keep the service as cost effective as possible, I believe more park and ride sites will need to be developed in the suburban and free standing cities. The area I represent is large and has different needs. In an effort to know more about the needs and problems of the area, I have appointed four members for the Transit Advisory Committee from various parts of my district. My four members are Morrie Arenson from St Louis Park, Mary Anderson from Golden Valley, Paul Holmlund from Brooklyn Center, and Darrell Schneider from Champlin. Each of us on the MTC can also appoint two members to serve on the Transit Advisory Board for Elderly and Handicapped. My two members are Mae Dale from Anoka and Leroy Marshall from Golden Valley. I appreciate all of their input and willingness to give their time to serve on these two advisory boards. If you have comments, suggestions, or concerns about transit, please let me hear from you.
