PAGE 1 <br />BOARD OF REVIEW <br />MAY 29, 1979 <br /> <br /> BOARD OF REVIEW <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council held a meeting of th~Board of Review on May 29, 1979 at <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilman Cox <br />Councilman Mickelson <br />Councilman Reimann <br />Councilman Sorteberg <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />City Assessor Les Wirz <br />County Assessor Bruce Smith <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. <br /> <br />The following changes were submitted by Assessor Wirz as a result of the May <br />15, 1979 Board of Review hearing.' <br /> <br />John Borg Plat 90280 Parcel 0080 <br />Dennis Temple 89208 0010 <br />Art Buelow 89329 0200 <br />Jerr. y Smothers 90104 0100 <br /> <br />Super Bowl Inc. <br />Clifford Fornier <br /> <br />91040 0160 <br />89226 3800 <br /> <br />(Home not completed) <br />(Open land) <br />(Vacant parcel-no frontage) <br />(Reduced warehouse & office <br /> space assessment) <br />(Reduced) <br />(Reduced) <br /> <br />Councilman Cox reques%ed that Assessor Smith check the records at the County and <br />have them straightened out as he did not get his assessment card until the day <br />after the Board of Review; and also his property had been taken out of his name. <br />The Assessor's Office had it correct but the Auditor's Office.didn't-there is a <br />discrepancy between the two departments. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec raised a question regarding Mr. Bor~ who is living in his basement while <br />finishing the rest of his home. He noted that he is being partially assessed this <br />year based on the amount of completion of his home and asked how this would affect <br />the assessment next year if he didn't have the home completed by then. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann raised a question that wasn't it City policy to require the <br />home to be completely finished before occupancy? He expressed concern as to <br />safety requirements such as fire detectors, etc., being met. He asked if this is a <br />hardship case. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz and Building Official Berg stated that his home is nearing completion <br />and would be completed by the next year's assessment role. The home has the safety <br />requirements such as fire detectors and others as needed by law. <br /> <br />It was further explained.that this is a case of a private individual building his <br />own home and that is why he was allowed to occupy the home prior to completion. <br />In cases where homes are being constructed by developers or contractors this is not <br />allowed. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilman Cox and seconded by Councilman Mickelson to forward the <br />recommended changes as listed above and as noted on the abstract to the County <br />Assessor's Office. <br /> <br /> <br />
