TO: City Administrator

FROM: Building Official

RE: Monthly Report

Date: August 22, 1979

Construction continues to be very slow with only four housing starts
for the month. Increased interest rates and the cost of gasoline have
virtually eliminated housing starts in the outer suburbs'.

On August 8, 1979, at the request of the occupant, I inspected a dwell-
lng at 16420 St. Francis Blvd. that is apparently set up as a duplex.
I notified the ov~ers by letter that the property was zoned as R-1
residential and use as a duplex would require a conditional use permit.
I would note that there were several code violations and for this reason
the occupant refused to pay the rent. The owner has taken this item to
court and I guess I'll be summoned to attest to my findings.

A letter was also sent to Mr. Bruce Lee, 7200 - 152ndAvenue N.W. in re-
gards to his accessory building. I notified him that I did not feel
his colored metal building with a galvanized roof and no other exterior
finish complied with the ordinance as far as being compatible. I have
withheld approval of the final inspection until such time as this matter
is resolved.

Other letters included one to Carl Johnson Plumbing in regards to the
boiler and a couple to homeowners who have not scheduled final inspections
on various projects.

I would also note I have had no response to the letter sent to Mr.
Hedstrom in regards to the house he is building.

Permits issued, mileage and inspections are as follows:

Permits Issued

Permit Fee Valuation Surcharge

A. Houses 4 $708.00 $188,000.00 $ 94.00
B. Garages 11 324.00 48,500.00 25.00
C. Storage Sheds 2 15.00 1,500.00 1.00
D. Fire Places 4 60.00 6,000.00 3.00
E. Add. &Misc. 3 73.00 11,500.00 6.00
F. Plumbing 4 94.00
G. Sewers 11 165.00

Totals 39 $1,439.00 $255,500.00 $129.00
