ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> April 10, 1980 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. by Chairman Lawrence <br />Keillor. <br /> <br />Motion by Arnold Cox and seconded by Jack Menkveld to approve the <br />minutes as presented. <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Lushine of the State Economic Development Commission was in- <br />vi'ted to attend by Mr. Chuck Soderholm, and he will serve as a catalyst <br />to our Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Lushine stated the Economic Development Commission requires very <br />solid programs. <br /> <br />The co~nunity profile was discussed and Mr. Lushine explained its im- <br />portance: <br /> <br />Industrial Park Profile - The City shotuld be provided <br />with 300 copies which are prepared by the State. He <br />stated the State will keep 150 and the community re- <br />ceives 150. <br /> <br />Financing - is the key to development. Ramsey is E.D.C. <br />eligible. <br /> <br />The City Council should work to cooperate with present industry and <br />encourage new development in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />There was a discussion on what 100 new jobs will mean to the City of <br />Ramsey. They are -- <br /> <br />$2 million in payroll <br />$2 million in retail sales <br />800 banking transactions <br />97 additional families <br />1 new retail store <br /> <br />The Commission listed their concerns for prospective industry, They <br />are: <br /> <br />-- Labor availability, supply, productivity, commuting <br /> habits <br /> <br />-- Transportation <br /> <br />-- Tracking services - names of commercial carriers, rate <br /> schedules <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COmmISSION <br /> April 10, 1980 <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
