PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />RAMSEY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Economic Development Commission met at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center on December 12, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present at this meeting were the following Commissionmembers: <br /> <br />Mr. Lawrence Keillor, Chairman <br />Mr. Robert Muller <br />Mr. Reinhold Peltzer <br />Mr. David Mickelson <br />Mr. Don Greenberg <br />Mr. Roger Meyer <br /> <br />Others in attendance were as follows: <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Gamec <br />Councilman Arnold Cox <br />Councilman A1 Sorteberg <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br /> <br />Councilman Cox addressed the Commission on the Senate Tax hearing that <br />was held at the State Capitol Building on Monday, December 7, 1981. He <br />stated that the City of Ramsey was represented at this tax hearing (as <br />Mayor Gamec, Councilman Cox, businessman, A1 Koenig, businessman, and <br />Mike Kovar, businessman testified at this hearing). Councilman Cox <br />stated that the Senators were impressed with the testimony that Ramsey <br />gave at this tax hearing. <br /> <br />Chairman Keillor stated he is too busy to continue on as Chairman, but <br />would like to serve in another capacity on the Commission. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Keillor and seconded by Dave Mickelson to appoint Mr. Mike <br />Kovar as Chairman of the Ramsey Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: all. Voting no: none. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox discussed what the City has been doing in regards to the <br />coming legislative session. He stated it was extremely important that <br />the tax law would have to be changed aS it was affecting business. <br /> <br />Councilman Sorteberg stated he thought the businessmen should draft up <br />some proposed changes to the law. <br /> <br />Mr. Keillor stated he felt that the Ramsey Economic Development Commission <br />should really remove itself from legislative matters such as has been <br />stated and devote that time to attracting new industry to the City of <br />Ramsey. He did feel it was extremely good for the Ramsey Businessmen's <br />Association to carry on with their legislative tax battle. <br /> <br /> <br />
