As of the writing of this report no word on the outcome yet. The fire department is seeing an increase in the number of requests for mutual aid to our neighbors. 2004 numbers have already passed all of 2003. 2004 has seen a return of the grass fire season. In the past 2 years there have been few wild land fires most likely due to frequent rains in typically dry times. New radio system in county is well on its way. Projections are the system will be operational in the 4th quarter of 2004. 1306 Amendment went into effect in June. Much activity is expected with the required extinguishing systems coming to new construction. Community Involvement-The fire department will again be involved in activities such as the Safety Camp, National Night Out, Happy Days, Community Picnic. Dean Kapler Fire Chief
