CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

Topic Report: Consider Ramsey Town Center Lighting fixture

By: Brian E. Olson, Assistant Director of Public Works / Principal City Engineer

Background:

Pm'suant to the Master Development Agreement for the Ramsey Town Center, the Master
Developer has the responsibility to construct the streetscaping associated with the Municipal State
Aid (MSA) roads that include Sunwood Drive, Rhinestone Street and Zeolite Street.

We have worked on this streetscaping plan for the Municipal State Aid roads over the past few
months trying to define each of the streetscape components (concrete, benches, planting beds, trees,
signs and lighting fixtures).

The City cm'rently has a lighting fixture standard as shown on the attachment, however, Close
Landscaping, City Staff, and the Developer are after a more elegant and functional lighting fixture
for the Town Center area. The new streetscape design indicates that the lighting fixture will be
placed 72 feet apart on both sides of these roadways, 100-150 apart on one side of the roadway for
the parkways and residential areas.

Brace Jacobson from Close Landscape and Architecture will be present at the meeting to make a
presentation about the new lighting fixture that we are recommending.

Attachments:

City's cmrent lighting fixture standards
Recommended new lighting fixture

Action Statement:

CCWS: 8.24.04
