'1

i
I

total of about 34,800 person trips beginning or ending in Ramsey on a typical
day in 1990. All of these trips will use the local, collector and/or minor arterial
system within Ramsey for at least a portion of the trip. Some of these trips will
use this localized system only to reach the metropolitan system. However, over half
of the trips with origins or destinations in subregion 7, which includes Ramsey,
remain within the same subregion for the entire length of the trip. The Metropolitan
Highway System is not planned to carry these subregional trips. The Transportation
Policy Plan a ss umes that Rams ey, in conj unction with neighboring municipalities
and the county, will plan an adequate system of local streets, collectors and
minor arterials, to accommodate all of these trips.

A map 'of the functional classification system in Ramsey, as adopted by the
Metropolitan Council and its Transportation Advisory Board, is attached for your
information (Map A 4). Requests for revisions of this map should be addressed to the
Transportation Advisory Board. Additional information about these facilities may be
obtained from the agency of 3urisdiction.

To analyze the impact of Ramsey's land use plan on the Metropolitan Highway
System, the Council will need to receive population, household, and employment data
from Ramsey by traffic assignment zone at the time the city's comprehensive plan
is submitted for review. A map of traffic assignment zones will be sent in a later
communication.

'!
I
I
I
I
I
I

7
