Page 1 <br />LEE'$ IA~CApING & NURSERY <br /> P & Z Public Hearing <br /> June 4, 1979 <br /> <br />PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Rmmsey City Planning & Zoning <br />Conmission held a Public Hearing on June 4, 1979 at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 <br /> <br />Chairman Ken Peterson called the Public Hearing to order at 7:39 P.M. with <br />the following in attendance: <br /> <br />Ken Peterson <br />Art Dunn <br />Kathy Schneider <br />Gerry Zinmezrmm <br />John Hubbard <br /> <br />Also present: <br /> <br />Lloyd Schnelle, City Administrator <br />Peter Raatikka, City Engineer <br /> <br />Chairman Ken Peterson explained that this is a public hearing to discuss <br />and receive input regarding a request from Mr. Clarence Crawley for approval <br />of an Urban Development Permit for a nursery. 'The property involved is on <br />Nowthen Boulevard (146XX block) in a UMB zoned district. <br /> <br />Mr. Crawley appeared before the Conmission and presented a plan of his <br />proposed nursery operation. He stated that the property ~involved is <br />1.9 acres approximately two miles south of the City Hall on Nowthen Boulevard. <br />Mr. Crawley informed the Planning & Zoning Conmission-that he has appeared <br />before the City Council on May 14th seeking permission to build on his <br />property before having this hearing as he ordered 7. several hundred dollars in <br />nursery stock and it was being shipped. The Council did give him permission <br />at that time to operate his nursery facility in a tm~porary capacity providing <br />he mat the requirements of the ordinance and also gave b~m permission to <br />construct a temporary structure 8 X 12 feet to be remv~d by August 1st. <br />He said his business will involve a general retail outlet for persons in <br />this area. He said he plans to construct a 1500 square foot office building <br />and a 5000 sq, mre foot display area and asphalt parking area for customers. <br />He further stated that 'he plans to add a greenhouse addition to the office <br />building by this time next year. ' <br /> <br />Chm~rman Ken Peterson called for citizen input. <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />A letter from Mr. Ben De_~r~_r, P & Z me~ber, who lives next to Mr. Crawley <br />stating that as a private citizen he has no objection to this proposal. <br /> <br />Chairman Ken Peterson closed the public hearing at 7:41 P.M. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />Arlene Peddycoart <br />Recording Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />
