Transportation is one of the two (2) key policy and legislative priorities for the community,
and deserves significant attention in our long term land use plan (20 years).
The Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee will be discussing this Chapter at their March Meeting and will kick
off the first of three (3) planned Workshops on the topic in April.
1. Workshop 1: Identify Opportunities and Issues
2. Workshop 2: Develop Concepts and Ideas
3. Workshop 3: Consensus on Plan
Observations/Alternatives:
Attached is a proposed budget from WSB to aide in preparation. There are a number of technical components to the
plan that need third party expertise outside of the talents of internal Staff. WSB is already part of the City's
Planning Team. A majority of the budgeted expenditures are covered by a Planning Grant awarded by the
Metropolitan Council.
Details on the proposed work plan and budget are attached.
The existing Chapter is attached for review. The content was developed over ten (10) years ago, and is significantly
out of date with existing plans and policies.
Funding Source:
Funding is budgeted in the General Fund Budget, with assistance from a Planning Grant from the Metropolitan
Council.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends approval of the attached work plan and budget.
Action:
Motion to approve the work plan and budget for the Comprehensive Plan Transportation Chapter.
Attachments
