Appendix: Database Descriptions <br /> Environmental Risk Information Services(ERIS)can search the following databases. The extent of historical information varies with <br /> each database and current information is determined by what is publicly available to ERIS at the time of update. ERIS updates <br /> databases as set out in ASTM Standard E1527-13, Section 8.1.8 Sources of Standard Source Information: <br /> "Government information from nongovernmental sources may be considered current if the source updates the information at least every <br /> 90 days, or, for information that is updated less frequently than quarterly by the government agency, within 90 days of the date the <br /> government agency makes the information available to the public." <br /> Standard Environmental Record Sources <br /> Federal <br /> National Priority List: NPL <br /> National Priorities List(Superfund)-NPL: EPA's(United States Environmental Protection Agency)list of the most serious uncontrolled or abandoned <br /> hazardous waste sites identified for possible long-term remedial action under the Superfund program.The NPL,which EPA is required to update at least <br /> once a year, is based primarily on the score a site receives from EPA's Hazard Ranking System.A site must be on the NPL to receive money from the <br /> Superfund Trust Fund for remedial action. <br /> Government Publication Date:Jun 27,2016 <br /> National Priority List-Proposed: PROPOSED NPL <br /> Includes sites proposed(by the EPA,the state,or concerned citizens)for addition to the NPL due to contamination by hazardous waste and identified by <br /> the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)as a candidate for cleanup because it poses a risk to human health and/or the environment. <br /> Government Publication Date:Jun 27,2016 <br /> Deleted NPL: DELETED NPL <br /> The National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan(NCP)establishes the criteria that the EPA uses to delete sites from the NPL. <br /> In accordance with 40 CFR 300.425.(e),sites may be deleted from the NPL where no further response is appropriate. <br /> Government Publication Date:Jun 27,2016 <br /> SEMS List 8R Active Site Inventory: SEMS <br /> The Superfund Program has deployed the Superfund Enterprise Management System(SEMS),which integrates multiple legacy systems into a <br /> comprehensive tracking and reporting tool.This inventory contains active sites evaluated by the Superfund program that are either proposed to be or <br /> are on the National Priorities List(NPL)as well as sites that are in the screening and assessment phase for possible inclusion on the NPL.The Active <br /> Site Inventory Report displays site and location information at active SEMS sites.An active site is one at which site assessment,removal,remedial, <br /> enforcement,cost recovery,or oversight activities are being planned or conducted. <br /> Government Publication Date:Aug 5,2016 <br /> SEMS List 8R Archive Sites: SEMS ARCHIVE <br /> The Superfund Enterprise Management System(SEMS)Archived Site Inventory displays site and location information at sites archived from SEMS.An <br /> archived site is one at which EPA has determined that assessment has been completed and no further remedial action is planned under the Superfund <br /> program at this time. <br /> Government Publication Date:Aug 5,2016 <br /> Comprehensive Environmental Response. CERCLIS is a database of potential and confirmed hazardous waste sites at which the EPA <br /> Superfund program has some involvement.
