This was
requested in an attempt to retain an already trained and certified employee that desired part-time hours. In
addition, the current staffing levels are well below what is needed due to increased work demands. The increased
demands include fie introduction of a new Public Safety Data System, an increase in the amount of data requests
by our city and county attorney and State and Federal agencies have also increased reporting requirements. Ms.
Jennifer Johnson interviewed for and was hired for the part-time position.
As a result of the fulltime position now being vacant, Staff conducted an internal and external recruitment,
conducted first and second interviews and an extensive backgrounding process. Staff recommends the City Council
hire Ms. Jamie Hedburg as the City's new fulltime Police Records Technician.
Notification:
The fulltime Police Records Technician will work to meet the needs of the ever growing backlog of police records
reporting, such as performing computer entries for calls for service, transcribing supplemental reports and
statements, submitting required documents to local, state and federal agencies, processing records using
departmental imaging system, filing records per departmental retention guidelines, completing integrity and
validation reports as required by state and federal agencies, and working with state and federal network programs as
a certified operator.
Funding Source:
The funding required for this position is included in the 2017 budget in the amount of$55,460.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends hiring Ms. Jamie Hedburg as the City's new full-time Police Records Technician, effective on or
near August 25, 2017 at$19.39 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2017 wage scale.
Action:
