Meeting Date: 01/24/2017 Submitted For: Kurt Ulrich,Administrative Services By: Jo Thieling,Administrative Services Information Title: Adopt the 2017 City of Ramsey Legislative Platform Purpose/Background: Annually,the City of Ramsey adopts a Legislative Platform for the purpose of defining a list of Legislative priorities of specific interest to the City of Ramsey. Upon adoption by the City Council, Ramsey's Legislative Platform will be used to communicate City priorities to County, State and Federal officials. Additionally,this document will be used internally by staff to guide legislative working priorities for 2017. Observations/Alternatives: Below is a chart summarizing legislative-related issues that are considered significant to the City of Ramsey at this time. Of the eight issues outlined,two are new additions from last year. These two are regulations in regard to absentee balloting and the issue of Metropolitan Council governance. A detailed summary of each issue is attach as part of the City summary. Also included are the legislative platforms for Anoka County,the North Metro mayor's Association,the Metro Cities, and the League of Minnesota Cities. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached City of Ramsey Legislative Platform as presented,or as amended based upon discussion.
