PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I' <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on Monday, May 9, 1983 <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Jean Schlueter~. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />City Attorney William Goodrich (arrived at 7:35 p.m.) <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka (arrived at 7:35 p.m.) <br />City Building Official Clayton Berg <br />Reporter Carolyn Thompson <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Sue Van Wagner <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the special meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. and led in the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mr. Arthur Dunn - 15140 Yolite - Presented Council with a letter of resignation <br />from the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Ad Hoc Committe for Public Utilities <br />and the Hazardous Waste Abatement Committee. Mr. Dunn stated that it seems <br />Council does not need P&Z recommendations any longer, that Council makes it's <br />decisions based on economic factors. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that Mr. Dunn's service has been very helpful, that various <br />Commissions do not always agree and that he hopes there will always be a difference <br />of opinion between such commissions. <br /> <br /> I <br /> ! <br />! <br /> <br />The matter of Mr. Dunn's letter of resignation will be discussed under Council <br />Business as Case #1.A. <br /> <br />Arnie Cox - 17705 Nowthen Blvd. N.W. - Referred to his letter to Ramsey City <br />Council dated May 6, 1983 regarding the cost of public services and the need <br />for economic development in Ramsey. Mr. Cox urged Council to vote favorably <br />for economic growth related issues. Mr. Cox also noted that persons such as <br />John Lichter, John Mueller and Dennis Donovan hinder business growth in Ramsey <br />and that Council should keep in mind that they are a vocal minority. Mr. Cox <br />~tated'that'some of the~confusion'regarding publ~c'uti)~ties .coming to Ramsey <br />was caused by some of the Planning and Zoning Commission and Park Commission <br />members. Mr. Cox requested direction from Council regarding his proposed park' <br />development and noted that the City Engineer is willing to volunteer his <br />services. Mr. Cox stated that he would like to serve on the proposed Charter <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Kathy Schneider - 15340 Xenon - Stated that it is no wonder that there is general <br />discontent and members' of P&Z are resigning when people come forward and take <br />pot shots at the Commissions.
