Public Service Employment Program Thank you for your past participation in the C.E.T.A. Public Service Em- ployment Program. With your help, many C.E.T.A. participants were able to make the transition from federally-funded positions to unsubsidized employment. Are you aware of the "new" Public Service Employment program? I call this program "new" because 1979 regulations have had the effect of concentrat- ing PSE efforts on those whom the program was intended to serve: the eco- nomically disadvantaged who are in need of basic skills up-grading and on- the-job training in order to move into unsubsidized employment. With the inception of the new rules, we have developed a program which places C.E.T.A. clients in entry-level positiomwith both governmental and non-profit agencies. For example, during the past few months we have placed C.E.T.A. PSE participants in the following positions: General Office Clerk with a School District. Warehouse Assistant with a non-profit agency. Clerical Aide Trainee with a State agency. Day Care. Aide with a non-profit agency. Receptionist/Clerk I with a County department. Food Service Trainee with a non-profit agency. As you can see,.a variety of positions _qualify for C.E.T.A. PSE funding under the new regulations. Beginning wages for these-positions range from $3.10- $3.70 per hour. In most cases, the C.E.T.A. Counselors will a~range for re- lated classroom training, which both improves the current skills of the clients and enhances their value as productive employees. All training- related costs are paid directly by C.E.T.A. Wages and fringes are paid by the employer and reimbursed by C.E.T.A. During the upcoming months, we expect to' have a need for both short-term (1 week to 3 months) and long-term (3 months to 18 months) PSE positions. If you have a need for a position, which you would not normally fund under your current funding sources, please contact me at 571-8500, extension 8.
