Mr. Walters stated his intention that he is planning to finish the
exterior of the existing block building with the swirl type coating
that is on the front of it.

~ayor Gamec said that 35 percent of the west side ~f the building should
be finished on the exterior with something other than what is being prgposed and
be consistent with the existing building.

Regarding the driveway, Councilmembers concurred that there would be~no
problem with not having it blacktopped.

Motion by Councilman Reimann and seconded by Councilman Cox to approve
the site plan as discussed with 35 percent of the west side of the building
being faced with something other than the white metal and not paving the
driveway itself but that the parking area is to be bituminous paving as
per the development contract.

Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann and Sorteberg.
Voting no: None. Motion carried.

MIDWESTERN UNDERGROUND SITE PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT

It was noted that Mr. Jerich did not want to pursue this matter further
until his architect could be present to go over his proposal.

A lengthy discussion was held regarding the pole-building type structures.

Mayor Gamec noted that the intention is to get away from the pole~type
buildings, with a slab underneath that supports the poles.

Councilman Cox said that the intention was also to get away from the pole
buildings because of fire protection, water supply not available~etc.

Councilman Mickelson said he remembered a discussion previously held
whereby the difference between agri-type pole buildingswere the type
that the City did not want to see being used for cor~mercial/industrial
businesses and that the exterior had to be something Qther than metal.

Councilman Cox said the ordinance was intended to upgrade the quality
of the buildings and also create more tax base. He also noted that
some of the lots would be subdivided in the future and then the business
being located next to the existing building would be stuck with an
exterior less asthetic etc., than the ordinance requires. Also the pole-
type building, if permitted, to be built for storage etc., could be sold
and any permitted use for that zone could locate within the building.

Midwestern Underground,(exterior of the building~ is to face the proposed
building with 100~ as per the City Cod~nsomething that doesn't look like
metal.

This item was tabled, no action taken~

SODERHOLM & ASSOCIATES SITE PLAN APPROVAL

Mr. Dennis Sharp, general contractor for Soderholm & Associates, was present.

Page 4
Council/January 22, 1980

CITY OF RAMSEY
