Motion by Cou. ncilman Mickelson and seconded by Councilman Cox to adopt <br />the fo]lowing resolution: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION 80-6 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO 1MPROVE SECURITY AT THE ANOKA STATE HOSP1TAL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Councillor the City of Ramsey, <br />Anoka County, Minnesota is concerned about the safety of the citizens who <br />reside in the communities surrounding the Anoka State Hospital and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council/of the City of Ramsey, <br />Anoka County, Minnesota is concerned of the safety of the patients at <br />the Anoka State Hospital and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Ramsey, Anoka <br />County, Minnesota is very concerned that the responsible elected officials <br />neglected to carry out their duties in correcting a long overdue serious <br />situation and, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY <br />COUNCIL, CITY OF RAMSEY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br /> 1) It is requested that an appropriate security barrier <br />be constructed to eliminate the possibility of patients with potentially dangerous <br />and violent natures from just simply walking away from the facility. <br /> <br /> 2) It is requested that an investigation bE made to insure <br />that there is adequate security personnel to maintain a 24-hour security sur- <br />veillance over the building and grounds of the State Hospital to assure that <br />patients who are potentially dangerous and violent do not walk away from the <br />hospital. <br /> <br /> 3) It is requested that adequate supervision and rehabil- <br />itative care and training be given to the patients to help get these persons <br />back into society. <br /> <br /> 4) It is. requested that steps be taken to assure that <br />monies that are designated to be used for helping the patients is actually <br />used for that purpose. <br /> <br /> 5) It is requested that the responsible people in charge <br />of supervising patients of a violent and dangerous nature in si st on maximum <br />security and enforce maximum security at all times where these patients <br />are concerned. <br /> <br /> 6) It is further requested that the responsible elective <br />officials and their appointed officials give a written report to.:this City <br />Council within ten (10) days after receipt of this Resolution on what steps <br />are being taken to protect the citizens of the communities surrounding the <br />Anoka State Hospital.
