Sec. 117-520. - E-1 and E-2 Employment Districts. <br /> (a) Wall, canopy or marquee sign. Total sign area may not exceed 15 percent of the front building facade. <br /> Sign height shall not exceed the top of the parapet wall or, if no parapet wall, sign height shall not <br /> exceed the height of the eaves.A wall, canopy or marquee sign may be located on the outermost wall <br /> of any principal building but shall not project more than 16 inches from the wall to which the sign is to <br /> be affixed. Where a principal building is devoted to two or more permitted uses, the operator of each <br /> such use may install a wall sign upon his proportionate share of the building wall to which the sign is <br /> to be affixed. The maximum gross surface area of each such wall sign shall be determined by <br /> calculating the proportionate share of the area of the building wall, including doors and windows to <br /> which the sign is to be affixed and applying such proportion to the total permitted wall sign aggregate <br /> gross surface area for the building. The gross surface area of a wall sign may be increased by ten <br /> percent if such wall sign: <br /> (1) Consists only of individual, outlined alphabetic, numeric, and/or symbolic characters without <br /> background except provided by the building surface to which the sign is to be affixed; and <br /> (2) Any illumination, if any, is achieved through shielded illumination, shielded silhouette lighting, or <br /> shielded spot lighting but not any lighting where the light source is visible or exposed on the face <br /> or sides of the characters. <br /> (b) Ground signs. There shall not be more than one ground sign for each parcel or per road frontage on <br /> parcels with more than one road frontage, not to exceed an aggregate of two ground signs. The gross <br /> surface area of a ground sign shall not exceed 100 square feet for each exposed face nor exceed an <br /> aggregate gross surface area of 200 square feet. For parcels qualifying for two ground signs, the <br /> second ground sign shall not exceed 50 square feet for each exposed face nor exceed an appreq ate <br /> gross surface area of 100 square feet and may not exceed 12.5 feet in height as measured in section <br /> 117-463(c) of this section. <br /> of 200 sq lora feat <br /> (c) Directional signs. <br /> (1) Directional or instructional signs are permitted in accordance with section 117-463(1). <br /> (2) Parking lot directional signs designating parking area entrances and exits are limited to one sign <br /> for each entrance and/or exit and shall not exceed four square feet for each exposed face. Parking <br /> lot directional signs shall not project higher than five feet in height, as measured from the <br /> established grade of the parking area to which such signs are accessory. <br /> (3) Parking lot instructional signs designating the conditions of use or identification of parking areas <br /> shall not exceed eight square feet and shall not project higher than ten feet in height for wall signs <br /> and seven feet in height for ground signs, as measured from the established grade of the parking <br /> area to which such signs are accessory. <br /> (d) Window signs.
