Counci]3r~n Cox introduced the following resolution and moved for its <br />a dOptf on: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 8O-42 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REGARDING CERTAIN SCHOOL DISTRICTS ATTITUDE TO NOT COOPERATE <br />WITH THE DEFENSE DEPARTMENT RECRUITING EFFORTS IN THEIR RESPECT/VE <br />SCHOOLS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey is a local unit of government <br />located in Anoka County, NHnnesota, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the P~msey City Council is sw6rn to uphold the law <br />and act in the best interests of the health, safety and welfare of its <br />residents, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as a local unit of government the Ramsey City Council <br />regards itself as an intergral cog in the government of the whole United <br />States, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to promote and protect the.health, safety and welfare <br />of all citizens of the United States the Rsmsey City Council agrees with <br />the Congress of the United States that a strong defense system is <br />necessary, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to maintain an adequate and~strong defense <br />system, manpower must be supplied to the armed forces, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the natural source of manpower is the youth of the <br />Nation, the majority of whom are being educated by private and public <br />school systems, which school systems receive substantial tax dollars for <br />their existence, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Ramsey <br />City Council that numerous public and private schools and school dis- <br />tricts do not or will not cooperate w~th the Department of Navy recruit- <br />ment activities, let alone encourage theses'recruitment activities, and <br /> <br /> WP~EREAS, the Ra~sey City Council urges the administrators of <br />all'schools and school districts to assist in promoting an effective and <br />strong United States by not only cooperating with but also by promoting <br />the Department of the Navy's recruitment efforts. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF R~J~SEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF <br />MINNESOTA URGES: <br /> <br /> 1) That Federal and State aids be t~ken away from school dis- <br />tricts where the district refuses to comply with state and federal law <br />and where school officials fail to promot an effective and strong United <br />States by not cooperating with the promoting of the Department of Defense <br />recruitment efforts. <br /> <br /> <br />
