CASE #

SCHEDULE JOINT PLANNING COMMISSION AND
PARK COMMISSION MEETING
By: Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik

Back~round:

As you know the Park Commission has been working on an ordinance to require
sidewalks or trails adjacent to all new City streets except cul-de-sacs. The input of the
Planning Commission has been solicited on at least two other occasions. The Planning
Commission also conducted the public hearing required prior to forwarding the ordinance
to Council for adoption.

Observations:

On March 14, the ordinance was presented to City Council for introduction. The Council
did not introduce the ordinance and requested additional information such as who would
be responsible for maintenance, the recommended width, location of the sidewalk or trail,
should they be bituminous or concrete, should they be called sidewalks or trails, should
they be on all streets or collector streets, etc.

It was decided that there should be a joint meeting between the Planning Commission and
Park Commission to work on these issues. The Park Commission staff liaison, Mark
Boos, is requesting 3 possible dates for a joint meeting.

Recommendation:

Supply 3 possible dates and times for a joint meeting.

Commission Action:

Motion to suggest the dates of
joint meeting with the Park Commission.

., ., and for a

Copy to:
Parks & Utilities Supervisor

PC: 04/04/00
