CASE <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR A PRIVATE DOG KENNEL <br />TO MAINTAIN MORE THAN TWO ADULT DOGS ON A PARCEL; <br /> CASE OF AMY ROSS <br /> By: Community Development Assistant, Megan Wald <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On September 8, 2000, the City received an application from Amy Ross for a private dog kennel <br />conditional use permit to maintain a maximum of six adult debarked dogs on the property located <br />at 8100 154tl~ Ave. NW. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br /> <br />Site location map <br />Site plan and description of proposed request <br />Proposed findings of fact <br />Proposed conditional use permit <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />State Statute requires notification of the public hearing to property owners within 350 feet of the <br />subject property. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The subject property is approximately .9 acres in size and is zoned R-1 Residential. The <br />applicant currently owns two (2) debarked collies and would like to house a maximum of 6 adult <br />dogs on the property. Three (3) collies would remain on the property full-time and 1-3 more <br />dogs would be there on a temporary basis. <br /> <br />Ms. Ross trains collies to be confirmation dogs (competition dogs judged on their grooming) and <br />would need the flexibility to house 3-6 collies on the property during the short period while she <br />trains or prepares the dogs for a competition. Ms. Ross does not intend to maintain all six (6) <br />collies on the property on a regular basis, however she would like the ability to house up to six <br />(6) collies if she needed to for a couple of days. On an average the applicant intends to maintain · <br />approximately 3-4 debarked collies on the property at any given time. <br /> <br />The applicant has provided a letter of application and site plan which indicates that the dogs will <br />be keimeled outdoors during the day and brought into the house by 8:00pm every night and there <br />is an existing fenced in exercise yard with future plans to extend the fenced area. The applicant <br />has a 6 x 24 foot kennel outside and a 6 x 12 foot kennel inside the garage. <br /> <br /> <br />
