PW CASE #

PRESENTATION AND CONSIDERATION OF WATER TOWER LETTERING AND
COLOR SCHEME
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

The steel erection of Water Tower #2 has been underway since September and should be
completed over the winter months. Construction will resume in the spring, and painting which is
temperature and humidity dependant may start in early April 2001. Although there is some time
for making final decisions on color and letter style, it is advisable to begin such consideration
sooner than later.

I have attached a sketch illustrating the type of letter that is currently envisioned to be placed on
the tank. I will also have a palate that has over 250 color selections, along with brochures from
PDM, the tank manufacturer, which illustrates numerous examples of existing tanks. I have
invited Bob Kollmer from AEC Engineering to make a presentation at this meeting. I anticipate
he will also have some graphics for your viewing.

Committee Action:

Based on discussion.

Reviewed by:

Director of Public Works

PW: 11/21/00
