A public meeting on the report <br />will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 1:30 p.m.. in the <br />Metropolitan Council Chambers, 300 Metro Square Bldg., 7th and <br />Robert Sts., St. Paul. You are encouraged to attend this <br />meeting and offer your cormments on the report. <br /> <br />The state Waste Management Act of 1980 requires the Metropolitan <br />Council to estimate the solid waste disposal capacity needed in <br />sectors of the Metropolitan Area up to the year 2000. The <br />estimates are based on existing and projected waste-generation <br />rates. As required by the new law, the estimates do not assume <br />any diminution in volume through waste reduction or recovery <br />programs or facilities. The estimates, once approved by the <br />Council, will form the basis from which the Metropolitan counties <br />will initiate solid waste site selection-waste reduction and <br />recovery planning. <br /> <br />Persons wishing to speak at the meeting may sign up in advance by <br />contacting the Council's public meeting coordinator at 291-6482. <br />If you cannot attend, you are encouraged to send written comments <br />by July 3. <br /> <br />Additional copies of this report are available free of charge-. <br />from the Council's Public Information Office at 291-6464. <br /> <br />I hope you will be able to attend this meeting and offer your <br />comments.
