RESOLUTION 80- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OPPOSING ACROSS THE BOARD CUT IN STATE LOCAL AID TO LOCAL <br />GOVERNI~NT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey, Anoka County, <br />State of Minnesota has been informed by the League of Minnesota Cities that <br />your office is considering reducing state aid payments to cities to off- <br />set the possible short fall in revenues to the State. Further, that your <br />office is considering taking just a plain across the board approach in re- <br />ducing these State Local Aid payments to cities. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey,.Anoka .County, <br />State of Minnesota has opposed the current state local aid formula as being <br />inequitable legislation. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ramsey, Anoka County, <br />State of Mirmesota has brought these inequities in the distribution of state <br />local aid money to your attention and the State legislators only to see that <br />the changes in law just created more inequities. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PuaJ~SEY, <br />ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1) The City of Ramsey is opposed to an across the board cut <br />in state local aid payments as is being proposed by your office. We are <br />aware that cuts will probably have to be made in these payments. However, <br />we feel the City of Ramsey has suffered too long from this poorly written <br />state law that established the state local aid formula. <br /> <br /> 2) The City of. Ramsey would recommend that the Governor's <br />office take a good look at the many inequities in the State law that set <br />~ state local aid formula as it is a shame the way the money is distributed. <br /> <br /> 3) The City of Ramsey wants.to be kept informed as to how <br />you plan to reduce local aid payments to communities if there is a short <br />fall in revenue. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded <br />by Councilman <br />voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> <br />
