As we have <br />pr6viously communicated to you, it is imperative that Anoka County receive a <br />signed copy of the Joint Cooperation Agreement prior to submittal of a request <br />for urban county designation. According to HUD guidelines, this must be <br />accomplished prior to October 1, 1980. <br /> <br />By receiving urban county designation, Anoka County will be able to participate <br />in the Community Development Block Grant Program on behalf of all of its <br />municipalities and townships for fiscal year 1981. It is anticipated that this <br />program would mean approximately $2 million of new Federal money in Anoka <br />County. <br /> <br />The attached agreement represents only the enabling step for the County's <br />application. Consequently, your authorization of this agreement in no way <br />determines a specific allocation formula or locks you into any specific <br />program. <br /> <br />I'f you have any questions at all with regard to the passage of the Joint <br />Cooperation Agreement, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or <br />Mr. Tim Yantos of my staff. <br /> <br />Again, let me remind you that the agreement must be signed prior to October 1, <br />1980 by all of the municipalities and townships in Anoka County in order for us <br />to par'ticipate in this program. <br /> <br />With personal regards, I am, <br /> <br />R~SJph [.
