City of Ramsey

15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427-1410

October 3, 1980

Mr. Charles Weichselbaum
State Highway Engineer
Minnesota Department of Transportation District #5
2055 North Lilac Drive
'Cmlden Valley, Minnesota 55422

Dear M~. Weichselbaum:

I'm writing to you in regards to the following two cases that Councilmen
Cox and Sorteberg and myself discussed with you briefly after the Regional
League of Cities meeting that was held on September 29, 1980, at the Anoka
Holiday Inn:

1) As we discussed at the meeting we are receiving complaints
about the intersection at Highway #10 and Sunfish Lake Blvd. N.W. in regards
to the business establishment that is selling firewood there. We are con-
cerned about the inadequate egress and ingress to this business place in
that they are too close to the intersection of Highway #10 and Sunfish Lake
Blvd.

Secondly, it is felt that the stacking of fire wood for sale on their prop-
erty line (or Highway #10 road right-of-way) creates another serious problem.

Consequently, the City of Ramsey is requesting that your office check into
this and report back to us as soon as possible on %his issue. We have also
sent a letter to Mr. Paul Rudd our County Engineer on the same issue as they
are equally involved.

2) The City of Ramsey would also like to find out what plans
the State of Minnesota and Anoka County have in regards to the signalizing
of our major thoroughfare entrances onto State Highway #10. We recently had
another serious accident at the intersection of State Highway #10 and Ramsey
Blvd. N.W. (County Road #56) which involved a young girl in her late teens.
According to the Ramsey Police Department, she was seriously injured in this
accident. The Ramsey Police Department has informed us that something has
to be done to protect lives of citizens traveling Highway #10 and those who
have to negotiate an ingress or egress from/to ou~ major thoroughfares that
intersect with State Highway #10.

The City of Ramsey would like your reply on this issue as soon as possible.
We have also sent a letter to Mr. Paul Rudd our Cotmty Engineer on this same
issue as they are equally involved.
