be no fires and that they are not keeping their agreement on either
of these items and that Mr. Gesko had been told about this at our
last meeting and he had said it would be taken care of. Also they
had agreed to keep up the road and this had not been done. It was
suggested that the Town Board take legal action against the City of
Anoa on this matter o£ the dump. It was stated that the road had
been patched by Ramsey Township and the bill will be sent to the
City of Anoka. If the City of Anoka acquired the land it is now
looking at for more dump ground this will bring the dump to within
400 feet of homes that were bhere before the dump was put in.

Mr. ~;eaver arrived at 9:1~. How can we do something about the
excessive taxes in Ramsey Township was the question asked ~z~. Weaver.
~e read a letter sent to him by Mr. Remer of the State Department
of Minnesota. He said Anoka County spending went up 41~ last year.
Spending across the board statewide went up 50%. 60% of the money
collected by the state is returned to the local governments. He
also said the legislature has absolutely no control of the U of M
but that it pays 30% of the budget for the U of M. In the Anoka-
[~ennepin School Dist the cost per pupil unit is ~485 and that is
in the bottom 10% for the state. We are getting 2~00 new pupils
per year. It takes ~3500 tax base per pupil, in Anoka County but
Minneapolis has ~18,000 tax b~se per pupil and Golden Valley has
~13,500 tax base per pupil which is one reason our taxes out here
are so high. We don't have a high enough tax base per pupil. Also
the homestead tax is antiquated now. It is only $4,000 per house.
We get 7%% school aid from the state. At 9:45 Mr. Weaver was through
talking and turn the meeting back to Mr. Scarborough. Mr. Scarbor-
ough said that reevaluation of land should be taken up at the county
level because the valuation was done by the county in the first place.
In order to keep the taxpayers association successful we must come
up with results. We h~e a quorum here tonight.

It was stated that this proposal is not complete. A steering
committee would need to meet with a steering committee from the
City of Anoka. This steering committee would then assist the Town
Board.

~¢~. Peter ~nich moved that we thank the Taxpayers Association
for the work they have done and he also moved that we accept the
proposal of the Taxpayers Association and then that they should go
to the Town Board with this proposal. Seconded by Dorothy Bridges.
Motion passed with only four against.

Meeting adjourned at lO:~O p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
