WHEREAS, Anoka-I{ennepin Independent School District 4~11 has petitioned City of Anoka for cbc annexation of a proposed Senior Hf~h School site, the site cousistin~ of approximately 100 aeree presently situated in Grow and Ramscy To~xships, and WHEREAS said proposed school site was acquired from the State of Minnesota, Anoka State ltospital; and WHEREAS the extension of all utilities to this proposed school site (consisting of water, sanitary sewer, drainage, and electric power) will involve the traversing of State Hospital property lying between the school site and the present Anoka city limits; and WHEREAS the City prefers that the extension of ~uch utilities be on, over, or across properties lying within the city limits wherever possible, thereby prompting the request for annexation of the intervening State property as well; and WHEREAS the annexation of said properties will not involve any change in the status of assessed valuations in either of the Townships involved, said properties remaining under the respective ownership of School District f/ll and the State of Minnesota, thereby retaining its property tax-exemption status; NOW TI{EREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Township of herewith approves the annexation of the School District property and the intervening State Hospital property (containing approximately 194 acres in total) to the City of Anoka, as described in the attached petition, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, should an annexation Of either (or both) these school and state parcels be initiated by an ordinance procedure, rather than the subject petition, approval of this resolution would herewith authorize a waiver of the 60-day period provided for filing of objections by the Town Board.
