Staff is in the process of selecting two
contractors for a nature educator position. Contractors will lead nature -based education programs
for children, families, and adults. Planning has begun for program content, and currently ranges
from solar powered ovens and nature collages to water conservation and nature walks. Scheduling
will begin once two contractors are selected, with weekend programs centered on families and
adults and daytime summer programs focused on youth.
Art in the Park. On Friday, April 14, Rumriver Art Center and the City of Ramsey hosted their
first "wine and canvas painting" Art in the Park. Participants were able to enjoy a night of painting
with a glass of wine at Elmcrest Park. The class had a total of 12 participants and received positive
feedback. One respondent said staff was "really friendly" and "did a great job of getting us to
relax and let us work on our own." From another respondent: "I loved that I learned about
techniques I could use in other paintings, not just the specifics of how to replicate that particular
painting." Due to success, a second "wine and canvas" night will be held on Friday, September
26, 2017, from 6:30 — 8:30pm. Ideas for programs?
