Brookfield 8th Addition <br /> 2. Woodlands 4th Addition <br /> Notification: <br /> Notification is not required. <br /> Observations/Alternatives: <br /> At the February 28th City Council Meeting, action was postponed on the Final Plat for Brookfield 8th Addition, <br /> pending approval of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment by the Metropolitan Council. This was one (1) of two (2) <br /> Comprehensive Plan Amendments submitted to the Metropolitan Council. <br /> Staff has received word that both amendments will be scheduled for review by the Metropolitan Council's <br /> Community Development Committee on Monday,April 17th and consideration by the full Metropolitan Council on <br /> Wednesday,April 19th(both dates are tentative). <br /> Staff has received word from Metropolitan Council Staff that both amendments conflict with Metropolitan Council <br /> policies in the ThriveMSP 2040 document(regional development framework)related to stewardship. Specifically, <br /> Metropolitan Council notes that both MUSA (Metropolitan Urban Service Area)expansions impact areas of <br /> 'Outstanding Quality Ecological Resources'as defined by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. <br /> Metropolitan Council policies aim to protect existing areas of ecological resources from future development. Staff is <br /> working on a Supplemental Report outlining other strategies, other than restricting MUSA expansions,that protect <br /> quality ecological resources. Staff remains confident that the amendments will be successfully approved, although <br /> not administratively. <br /> Funding Source: <br /> Costs associated with processing the Application are the responsibility of the Developer. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> No action being requested. <br /> Action: <br />
