AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN RECRUITMENT FOR A FULL-TIME TERMPORARY PERMIT TECHNICIAN By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager Background Thc City currently has one full-time regular Permit Technician who is responsible for reviewing and processing permit applications, performing skilled clerical work, calculating arid collecting fees, preparing reports as necessary, and data and records management. In February 2005 the City's Permit Technician will be taking personal leave for three months. This will require a temporary replacement as the Permit Tcchn ician's role is very important to the daily operations of the Building Division. Staff' is requesting authorization to begin recruitment for a full-time temporary replacement for the Permit Technician. As a temporary position, this replacement position will be on staff for a period not to exceed six months. It is anticipated that the replacement position will be brought on approximately one month before the Permit Technician goes on leave and will remain for approximately two weeks upon the return of the Permit Technician. This will promote smooth transitions at the beginning and end of the leave period. Thc ful I-time temporary position will be funded with building permit revenue overages l'or 2004.
